AN OWL HEAD OCCURRENCE IN GRAYSON CREEK
The owl head was found eroded from a creek in Grayson County between Sherman and Denison. Bulverde points and some Archaic dart points were found near it but cannot be positively associated with it. The bottom is hollowed out about one third of its interior mass.Inside is very rough but larger than the quarter sized opening at the bottom. This object is carved from a single piece of local limestone but the creek is in a Cretaceous formation of blue shale and Austin chalk.
