After years of nagging by friends, family and readers of my weekly newspaper column, I have finally put together a collection of my articles. These cover a couple of years of writing on diffusionist topics, my own misadventures in anarchaeology and a few sure 'nuff real archaeology news items that were hot stuff when I reported them. Many of the articles may be old news to those of you who came here by the diffusionist route but I hope you will find some new and amusing. Some of the things covered I no longer find credible in the light of later information and some of the more embarassing ideas I got suckered into I left out altogether as there is only so much chagrin a chump can take. These were written primarily as entertainment for an audience lacking my obsession for ferreting out the wonky and the weird and I hope everyone will take them in that light. If I've inadvertantly added to anyone's fund of facts, so much the better. At any rate, for a first book, it's a real lulu.
