By way of explanation, I had three stents placed in my right aorta Monday following a series of heart attacks which apparently began Memorial Day weekend when I was down in the Sulphur River attempting to document a blade cache site. I will likely not be around much for a little while until I recover some stamina. _________________ David Campbell

Wow David. Sorry to hear that. I know you were complaining about nearly
passing out one day on the Sulphur, when it was really hot.
I'll hit a knee for you Bro.
God bless, and get better soon! _________________ Charlie Hatchett

Good luck, Dave.
I know doctors are a pain in the ass but you have to listen to them!

Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. I am gradually able to stay up and about for longer periods of time but I get exhausted and light headed quickly in this Texas heat. It doesn't look as if I will be doing any serious digging this summer but I am determined to recover to better than my former capacity. I had a 90% blockage in three places on the right and a couple of 40-60% blockages on the left which were not addressed though they did blow out a lot of gunk during the procedure. It's a miracle the buzzards aren't picking my bones down in the creek bottoms now judging from the condition I was in. Obviously, I was spared for another fate. Reflecting back, I had been involved in meddling with the ancient dead just prior to the worst of the attacks, first with the blade cache on the Sulphur and then digging in the mound just behind the house the Friday before the medevac Monday. Being a nonaligned mystic and somewhat of a superstitious bent, it did occur to me that maybe I'd been ignoring some serious signposts on several levels. _________________ David Campbell

Definitely an interesting take on your incident, David.
Studying the dead and their ways, and at the same time almost dead
yourself...unknowingly.
I'm just glad you caught it in time bro.
You probably will feel better than before, with alot of the cloggage
removed. Should have a lot more energy before long.
I've met several people that have had heart incidents, that never worked
out before, who went on to run marathons regularly.
Bob and several others from the Dirt Brother's bunch have been out for
the last two weeks, and are coming back next week. I think their liking
what their seeing. We backed off the creek a couple hundred yards,
where I showed them an midden, with the geological elements apparently
very secure. They've been probing a bit at the 1.5'- 2' depth and running
into a bunch of Pedernales, Travis, Gower, Bulverde, and Nolans. The last
three are typed as Early Archaic: 6000-2500 B.C. Not bad for 1.5'- 2'
under the surface. Hopefully some Late Paleo pieces will pop up this
upcoming week.
Bob himself found 8 full points and a couple of full knifes yesterday,
consisting of Pedernales, Bulverde and Nolan technology. And then a
number of broken points and knifes of the same technology.
He had a big ol' smile on his face as we walked back to his truck.
Me too .
Thanks for hooking me up with these guys David. Their well aquainted
with much of the TARL staff.
I appreciate all your help. Also with Virginia.
We've been e-mailing quite a bit (daily). She's taken a real interest in the
site, and thinks it may be possible to date many of the artifacts via diatom
dating.
Good to see you back up Bro.
I bet the hardest part is behind you. And like you said, it very possible to
turn out being in the best shape you've ever been in.
