|

I stopped off briefly in Rockwall today to check in with John Lindsey on any new developments. John was off in East Texas with relatives but I caught up with Dee Johnson.Evidently some people from SMU contacted John and he gave a lecture to some 200 people on the buried walls at Rockwall. He mentioned this site so any of you who attended feel free to sign the guestbook or participate here at the forum. There will be another lecture in May I believe and I will be posting the date and location here as soon as I get all the particulars from John.Hopefully I will see him this Tuesday.
Meanwhile in the new page of thumbnails,"The Cretaceous Kingdom" I have included a few photos of fragments of stone and mortar from Rockwall that John gave me.As we were preparing to photograph them I noticed some faint marks that I had not paid any attention to before.I can't say how old they are but they are interesting as they are on a fragment that has other telltail signs of working by human hands.Hopefully I can get some new material up on the Quivira Project page very soon. _________________ David Campbell

Hello,
I was fortunate enough to hear John Lindsey speak at an Ecclectic Viewpoint meeting a few years ago. I'd like to find out if anything has been determined since that point. Also, is there a possibility of taking a tour of the area and excavation in particular?
Thanks,
Lance Oliver |

Lance, shortly after the Eclectic Viewpoint presentation, the Rockwall excavation was backfilled and the Rockwall Foundation apparently dissolved. Recently I noticed that they took their website down. The excavation is on the Ray Cameron farm and relations between the parties involved broke down. The City of Rockwall was discussing a new excavation near the proposed new loop but as of right now I don't know of any action that has been taken on this. A correspondent from Quitman informed me that there were other walls east of Rockwall but so far he has not sent me any precise locations. Some new evidence has surfaced but I am not at liberty to discuss it at this time. Suffice it to say that there is now no doubt in my mind that Rockwall has been at least modified by human hands. I strongly encourage you to explore the creeks around Denton County paying particular attention to the blue shale formations for signs of other walls. It is my hope that another site may located for careful excavation without the inherent problems involved in Rockwall which is hampered by uban development and other issues. _________________ David Campbell

I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything like that. There are some iron ore cells that I'll try and relocate to photograph. |
